Jeanne Lagorio is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience working with children, families and adults. The past 8 years have been dedicated to working primarily with military children and families, focused on the struggles unique to military life style; deployments, reunification and relocations from birth to adulthood.
She has worked in the field of addiction and understands the journey of long-term recovery, both professionally and personally with 32 years of uninterrupted sobriety. A Masters in Addiction counseling was earned in 2008, MAC. Jeanne assists individuals in exploring childhood trauma and dysfunctional family systems with the support of Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional families model.
The integration of Client Centered Therapy with a variety of modalities offers highly individualized treatment for the individual or family. The powerful healing tools of the expressive therapies art, music and movement, are among her skill set. Jeanne also teaches mindfulness and yoga to children, adults and families. She has been a YogaFit instructor since 2009.
“Life Cycles”, is a book she authored that helps children cope with daily change and loss Whether loss is due to death, divorce or a life style change Jeanne assists individuals and families in building resiliency.
A second book “Every Day Heroes: a learning disability or learning difference?” explores the struggles and triumphs of living with Dyslexia and ADHD.
Jeanne has experience in a variety of settings: from short-term inpatient drug treatment centers to long-term rehab centers for the reluctant to recover; leadership camps for teens to designing and facilitating family retreats for all ages. She has been a part of the Healing Arts Department at Children’s Hospital in San Diego where American Sign Language and music was used to help children and families with hospitalizations.
